Asymptotic Analysis of Quasi-Static Transport in High Contrast Conductive Media
نویسنده
چکیده
We show that transport in high contrast, conductive media has a discrete behavior. In the asymptotic limit of innnitely high contrast, the eeective impedance and the magnetic eld in such media are given by discrete min-max variational principles. Furthermore, we show that the transport problem has an asymptotic, resistor-inductor-capacitor network approximation. We use new variational formulations of the eeective impedance of the media and we assess the accuracy of the asymptotic approximation by numerical computations.

Asymptotic Approximation of the Dirichlet to Neumann Map of High Contrast Conductive Media
We present an asymptotic study of the Dirichlet to Neumann map of high contrast composite media with perfectly conducting inclusions that are close to touching. The result is an explicit characterization of the map in the asymptotic limit of the distance between the particles tending to zero.
متن کاملQuasi-Static Theory for Uniaxial Chiral Omega Media
The problem of unbounded uniaxial chiral omega media in the presence of both static electric and magnetic point charges is investigated. For this purpose scalar electric and magnetic potentials in these media are introduced. Using these potentials, the corresponding electric and magnetic fields are determined. The similar problem of static electric and magnetic current sources with the goal of ...
متن کاملDynamic homogenization in periodic fibre reinforced media. Quasi-static limit for SH waves
The effective response of a periodic fibre reinforced material to SH wave propagation is studied using the method of asymptotic homogenization, complex variable theory and multipole expansions. The quasi-static limit of the effective properties is calculated when the wavelength is much longer than the defining lengthscale of the microstructure. The method developed allows the determination of t...
متن کاملExperimental and Mathematical Investigation of Time-Dependence of Contaminant Dispersivity in Soil
Laboratory and field experiments have shown that dispersivity is one of the key parameters in contaminant transport in porous media and varies with elapsed time. This time-dependence can be shown using a time-variable dispersivity function. The advantage of this function as opposed to constant dispersivity is that it has at least two coefficients that increase the accuracy of the dispersivity p...
متن کاملAsymptotic behavior of a system of two difference equations of exponential form
In this paper, we study the boundedness and persistence of the solutions, the global stability of the unique positive equilibrium point and the rate of convergence of a solution that converges to the equilibrium $E=(bar{x}, bar{y})$ of the system of two difference equations of exponential form: begin{equation*} x_{n+1}=dfrac{a+e^{-(bx_n+cy_n)}}{d+bx_n+cy_n}, y_{n+1}=dfrac{a+e^{-(by_n+cx_n)}}{d+...
